- Obtain safeguarding resources which can be used after the seminar
According to safety standards, when a machine creates a hazard to operators and other employees in the machine area, it must be safeguarded. Rockford Systems offers a machine safeguarding seminar to teach people in positions of responsibility how to safeguard the point of operation and other machine hazards to meet these safety standards. This 2.5-day seminar explains how to interpret the performance language of both OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standards. Specific machine safeguarding situations are also discussed. Another section of the machine safeguarding seminar provides basic safeguarding guidelines for other metalworking machines using the ANSI B11-series safety standards. Please see the Detailed Seminar Agenda for more information.
At Our Location
Rockford Systems machine safeguarding seminars combine classroom discussion with demonstrations of 15 metal fabrication machines under power for demonstration purposes. Most of these machines (including power presses, press brakes, an engine lathe, a Bridgeport drill, a drill press, a grinder, spot welders and a riveter) are equipped with more than one type of safeguarding product so that attendees can see how different guards and devices can be applied and used. Hands-on experience with these machines and visual aids, including slides and videos, are also used. These teaching methods enable the participants to interpret the OSHA and ANSI standards as they relate to their specific machine applications and production requirements. We can also conduct customized seminars at our Training Center for your group or company.
At Your Location
In addition, machine safeguarding seminars can be presented at your company and tailored to the types of machines found at your plant. One day prior to the seminar, the instructor will take photos of your machines in operation and will incorporate them into your seminar the next day. The instructor can also review videotape of your equipment and view specific operations to better understand your machine safeguarding issues prior to the seminar. Please contact our training department at 1-800-922-7533 for more information.
The seminars are led by Roger Harrison, an industrial safeguarding expert with over 25,000 hours of training experience. Mr. Harrison is also a speaker at seminars sponsored by the Precision MetalForming Association (PMA) and FABTECH. Through his teaching methods participants will learn to interpret the OSHA 29 CFR and ANSI B-11 standards as they relate to specific machine applications and production requirements.
