Leveraging an experienced team of safeguarding specialists, mechanical and electrical engineers, all of whom have dedicated OSHA, ANSI and NFPA 79 standards expertise, our onsite Machine Safeguarding Assessment provides manufacturers with safeguarding peace of mind.
Using your machine list and electrical schematics and our proprietary RSXpress™ mobile inspection tool, Rockford Systems will perform a full conforming audit per the ANSI B11.0-2015 safety standard methods to identify machinery tasks and hazards. All applicable OSHA regulations and ANSI/NFPA standards will be considered during the safeguarding assessment.
Specifically, our safeguarding specialists will:
• Visually inspect mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems on machines
• Function test machines
• Function test safety devices
• Analyze machine hazards
• Analyze operator tasks
• Analyze machine tooling and uses
• Identify safeguarding options
• Detail the strengths and weaknesses identified in the audit findings
• Provide hazard reduction strategies required to comply with OSHA, ANSI and NFPA 79 standards
• Recommend standardized and customized safeguarding solutions
• And present an economical and timely project proposal outlining an equipment compliance roadmap
The safeguarding assessment process encompasses 7 Simple Steps and generally takes 90 days (for an average sized project):
1 – Discuss acceptable levels of safety your organization requires and a statement of work
2 – Submit machine list, pictures and video footage (if available) for analysis
3 – Approve safeguarding assessment quote
4 – Schedule safeguarding assessment at your facility
5 – Conduct safeguarding assessment*
6 – Submit additional machine data (such as schematics) if required
7 – Provide Compliance Report & Project Proposal, discuss findings and next steps
*Arrangements will be necessary for an electrician to be available to open control enclosures during the assessments. The presence of an experienced machine operator will also be required during the assessment as only an operational machine can be properly assessed.
