Tapered Flanged Covers

According to OSHA and ANSI standards, all fabricating machines must have mechanical power transmission apparatuses covered (guarded) if below a 7-foot level from the floor or working platform. This includes gears, sprockets and chains, conveyors, pulleys and belts, shaft ends, etc. Choose from a variety of covers/guards to help you comply with these safety standards.

All covers/guards are made from heavy-duty black ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) thermoformed plastic material—3/16" thick. They are heat resistant, scratch resistant, chemical resistant, sound absorbent, and are easy to install. ABS plastic is 1/3 the weight of steel and will never rust!


What Guard is Best for Your Application?

Choose standard or tapered guard cover

  • Use a standard guard if the diameters of the components you need to cover are the same or very close in size
  • Use a tapered guard if the diameters of the components you need to cover are different in size

Choose flanged or unflanged guard cover

  • Use a flanged guard if mounting space is not a problem
  • Use an unflanged guard if mounting space is limited

Measure (all measurements are in inches from the inside dimensions of the guard)

  • Find the height of the space you need covered
  • Find the width and length of the space you need covered
  • Find the diameters of the components to cover and measure the center distance of the two

Backplates are furnished with all standard and tapered guards. Guards can also be mounted back-to-back when the item you need covered is larger than the dimensions listed. Custom guards are available upon request; please consult the factory.

Note: Customer must cut holes based on each application. Mounting brackets and hardware not included.
